BIOGRAPHY

Jacyn is an Associate in the Firm’s Litigation Department.

Jacyn was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in July 2022 following the completion of her pupillage at Messrs Gan, Lee & Tan. Jacyn is actively involved in the legal community, including serving on the Bar Council Intellectual Property Committee.

With a focus on civil litigation, commercial litigation, and construction disputes, Jacyn brings a diverse range of skills to her practice. Her areas of expertise span various practice areas of law, allowing her to provide comprehensive and strategic legal advice to the Firm’s clients.

  • Acted for the largest electricity utility company in Malaysia specialising in debt recovery and tampering meter issues.
  • Acted for individuals in a complex fraud matter involving a sum in excess of RM140 million and declaratory reliefs.
  • Acted for executors in a probate matter involving various lawsuits related to breaches of fiduciary duties by the executors with assets in excess of RM8 million.
  • Acted for a private company in successfully obtaining a judgment and recovering the sum for approximately RM200,000.00 in relation to the construction services provided, and secured a declaration that a wrongfully obtained settlement agreement was void ([2024] MLJU 323).
  • Acted for beneficiaries in successfully setting aside a Distribution Order that was fraudulently obtained, ensuring the rightful distribution of assets and protecting the beneficiaries’ interests.
  • Acted for private companies in employment litigation before the Industrial Court.
  • Acted for an individual (patient) in a medical negligence action against a doctor and a hospital.
  • Acted for a leading digital asset custody service provider in recovering Bitcoin fraudulently transferred to a digital asset exchange platform and seeking injunctive relief in restraining the Bitcoin to be further transferred/dissipated.
  • Acted as co-counsel in pursuing and resisting applications before different levels of the Malaysian Courts.


  • Commercial Litigation
    • Acted for Japanese companies in recovering money in excess of RM45 million arising from breach of contract in relation to sales and purchase of vehicles.
    • Acted for a Japanese company in recovering money in excess of RM4.5 million arising from breach of contract.
    • Acted for a leading manufacturer of high-quality copper wire and cable products in recovering money in excess of RM2 million for goods sold and delivered, seeking declaratory reliefs to lift the corporate veil, and defending the company in an alleged breach of contract due to failure of compliance with specifications.
    • Acted for private companies in successfully recovering money in excess of RM1 million from a guarantor.
    • Acted for a private company in recovering money in excess of RM600,000.00 fraudulently paid to employees, specifically pertaining to wrongful payment of salary and bonus.
    • Advised and acted for a subsidiary of one of the world’s largest construction and real estate conglomerates in relation to civil litigation matters, including but not limited to successfully obtaining the Fortuna Order in client’s favour and to recover the contra properties wrongfully sold to other purchasers.
    • Acted for a private company concerning the breach of a franchise agreement by providing legal support to pursue appropriate remedies and seek redress for the breach.
    • Acted for a prominent trust and fund entity in defending complex trust and fiduciary matters.


  • Construction-Related Disputes
    • Acted for a joint venture between a subsidiary of an Italian public company and a wholly owned subsidiary of China company in a construction dispute involving the adjudicated sum of more than RM15 million, successfully obtained an order to stay the enforcement of adjudication decision and to refer the matter to arbitration pursuant to Section 10 of the Arbitration Act 2005.
    • Advised and acted for a subsidiary of one of the world’s largest construction and real estate conglomerates in several adjudication matters and obtaining orders to stay the civil proceedings pursuant to Section 10 of the Arbitration Act 2005.
    • Acted for various companies in setting aside adjudication decisions and opposing the enforcement of adjudication decisions in the realm of construction disputes.
