BIOGRAPHY

Prior to setting up GLT Law, Ming Chiek started his career as a Corporate M&A lawyer in Rahmat Lim & Partners (associated with Allen & Gledhill LLP Singapore), a tier one corporate transactions-focused law firm in Malaysia, and as a corporate & capital markets lawyer in Mah-Kamariyah & Philip Koh, during which he advised on many of the nation’s largest and most high-profile corporate transactions.

Ming Chiek advises a wide range of corporate exercises including initial public offering (IPO), M&A, private fundraising, emerging technology and industries such as ECF, P2P, e-money, e-commerce, initial exchange offering (IEO), cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies. His clients come from diverse industries such as property development, manufacturing, bereavement care, assets management, energy, healthcare, entertainment, technology, F&Bs and distributive trade industries.

  • Advised a Singapore-based real property focused private equity fund on its acquisition of a controlling stake in a property developer in Malaysia for a consideration of RM50 million
  • Advised a plantation group of companies for the divestiture of its plantation business for a consideration of RM50 million
  • Advised a Singapore non-profit blockchain real estate start-up on the tokenization of shared holiday homes by using blockchain technology to create an open and transparent way of recording digital assets, which revolutionizes time-sharing model in real estate
  • Advised a Singapore-based green, shared mobility project which aims to provide Transport-as-a-Service (TaaS) to congested cities worldwide by utilizing blockchain technology. The innovative project establishes utilization records of green mobility services on a decentralized public blockchain as an irrefutable record for “Proof-of-Green”
  • Advised the largest crypto trading desk in Malaysia which implements cross-order book model
