BIOGRAPHY

Azad graduated from Universiti Teknologi MARA with a LLB (Hons) degree in 2012 and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in April 2013.

 

He has over 7 years of experience with a focus on dispute resolution and alternative dispute resolution in contract, employment, corporate and commercial law, intellectual property, probate and administration, amongst others.

 

Azad also had in 2020 to 2022 transitioned into an in-house role as an Assistant Legal Manager in a public listed company and fulfilled a wide range of functions in this role. This included the managing of ongoing disputes, drafting and reviewing of commercial and contractual documentation, as well as rendering legal advice on  any arising legal questions.

 

He has now returned to practice as a Partner at Messrs Gan, Lee & Tan and regularly appears in the High Courts, Court of Appeal and Federal Court of Peninsular Malaysia.

  • Acted for the subsidiary of a public listed company in the judicial review of an arbitration award for a construction dispute
  • Acted for a private company (one of the shareholders) in the business of managed services in a shareholders dispute
  • Acted for a foreign private shareholder and contributory in winding up proceedings
  • Acted for the subsidiary of a public listed company in the claim for the termination of a contract involving parties from multiple jurisdictions
  • Acted for a shareholder in a minority oppression claim

  • Acted for a legal firm in resolving potential disputes between the partners
  • Acted for and advised the Malaysian Bar in several disputes and potential disputes
  • Acted for an individual in dealing with applications pursuant to the Mental Health Act 2001

Fraud and Asset Recovery
    • Acted for a bank in the claim of unauthorized release of funds and potential fraud
    • Advised and supervised the client’s appointment of a team of digital forensic account experts in a fraud/conflict of interest investigation
    • Acted as one of the supervising solicitors to an anton pillar order
