BIOGRAPHY
Kara graduated from the University of Reading with an LL.B. (Hons) in 2020. She was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales (Middle Temple) in 2023 after completing the Barrister Training Course at BPP University (London).
Prior to joining Messrs. Gan, Lee & Tan, Kara completed her pupillage and was retained as an associate at a boutique corporate law firm. She was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2025 and subsequently practised in one of Malaysia’s leading law firms within the mergers and acquisitions department.
Kara’s practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, and corporate advisory, as well as other areas of corporate and commercial law. She has experience in undertaking due diligence exercises, drafting and reviewing transactional agreements, and assisting in mergers and acquisitions and foreign IPO exercises that have been successfully executed and completed.

- Assisted in legal due diligence for a proposed acquisition of a bird’s nest company in Malaysia.
- Assisted in legal due diligence on an agritech company in connection with its proposed Nasdaq IPO.
- Assisted in drafting of transaction documents for a foreign company in relation to its disposal of a Malaysian subsidiary.
- Acted for a local grocery company in assisting with legal due diligence for a proposed acquisition of another grocery company in Malaysia.
- Assisted in legal due diligence for a furniture manufacturing company in connection with its proposed Nasdaq IPO.
- Assisted with legal due diligence and drafting of transaction documents for the acquisition of F&B restaurant businesses.
- Assisted in drafting and reviewing various agreements, including but not limited to collaboration agreements, service agreements, shareholders’ agreements and non-disclosure agreements.
- Acted for a private equity fund in assisting with the drafting of transaction documents in relation to its disposal of shares in an investment holding company.
- Assisted a private equity fund in drafting of transaction documents in connection with its investment activities.
- Assisted foreign counsel with due diligence exercises and advisory work in connection with the acquisition of a Malaysian zinc products manufacturing company.
- Assisted with due diligence exercises on a semiconductor manufacturing company.
